Kingswood

At Kingswood House we believe that everyone has the possibility for growth and an improved quality of life, and it is our aim to help and support people to achieve this.

Kingswood House is a registered nursing home in St Leonards on Sea that caters for 22 adults and is regulated by The Care Quality Commission. Kingswood House provides 24 hour nursing care by a team of experienced nurses and support staff.

What we offer

  • At Kingswood House we work with people who currently experience mental health problems, and who may also need some help with their physical health needs. Some of the people who need or use our service may also have had problems with substance or alcohol misuse.
  • People may come to us from hospital, another residential home, supported accommodation, or through referral from a community health professional. We will always maintain very close links with the family, friends, and professionals involved with that person's care and wellbeing. We will always consider whether the person referred will benefit from their stay at Kingswood House and try to ensure that they will not have a negative impact on other service users.
  • We offer individualised care plans with realistic and achievable goals, supporting each person to achieve the best quality of life, and mental and physical wellbeing. Our care packages are produced in collaboration with the people who use the service.

Our Aims and Objectives

At Kingswood House we believe that everyone has the possibility for growth and an improved quality of life, and it is our aim to help and support people to achieve this.

Therefore:

  • We will work with every person who uses the service to help and support them in working towards, and achieving their hopes and aspirations.
  • We will work with people in identifying achievable and workable goals.
  • At Kingswood House we recognise that even the smallest steps should be recognised and encouraged.
  • We will always strive to promote choice and independence, and where we have to help someone we will ensure that we do so with the permission and guidance of the people using the service.
  • At Kingswood House we will always welcome comments and suggestions to improve our service.

Our philosophy

Our philosophy is based upon a belief that all the people who use our service have the right to be treated as individuals. Whilst we require staff to work within basic guidelines and routines this must not institutionalise care. This will be monitored at regular intervals, in full consultation with all people, relatives, staff and visiting professionals.

The specialist needs of residents will be met by our staff that are knowledgeable and sensitive to their needs. The main tenant of care for people is the maintenance of dignity, orientation in time and place, safe management of aggression and challenging behaviour and the maintenance and retrieval of skills pertaining to activities of daily living and communication. This is achieved by stimulation, interaction and a supportive environment for both residents and staff.
